The Home Stretch: End-of-Year Excitement Ahead
To all members of our community with loved ones who have served in the military, we extend our heartfelt gratitude and warmest wishes for a meaningful and peaceful Memorial Day as we honor and remember those who made sacrifices in service to our country.
Dear Soundview families,
It’s hard to believe there are only twelve days left in the school year! This time of year always seems to arrive so quickly. Amidst the countdowns and end-of-year celebrations, it’s incredibly common for kids to experience a bit of a wobble or unease. While we usually associate summer with fun and relaxation, the shift away from school can actually be quite tough on some children. Sensory overload and the upcoming shifts to routines are common factors. At school, we try to balance consistency and routine with opportunities to reflect and celebrate the learning, growth, friendships, and memorable experiences our students have shared throughout the year.
A very special thank you to the Soundview Parent and Guardian Association (SPGA) and all of the parent volunteers whose hard work and support helped make the MYP Spring Fling such a success!
One of the highlights this week was our Early Childhood-Grade 4 Spring Showcase, where families and friends explored classrooms and hallways as our youngest students proudly shared their projects, classwork, and learning experiences. It was wonderful to see the confidence, creativity, and enthusiasm our students brought to the event.
This week also included a special opportunity for Mrs. Higgins’ orchestra students, who performed for a new audience outside of school at the Lynnwood Senior Center. Congratulations to all of the students for representing Soundview so beautifully and sharing their hard work through music.

There are two big things that we are excited about for the 2026-2027 school year. We are excited to share that we will be transitioning to a new database and student information system. This means the process for collecting and updating back-to-school information for next year will be a little different. Keep an eye out for more information. The other big news is that Soundview is turning 30 next year! We are excited to be launching a contest to design a special Soundview logo to celebrate this milestone. More details to come!

One more thing…
On May 22, 1843, nearly 1,000 pioneers set out west along the Oregon Trail in what became known as the “Great Migration.” Traveling by wagon across thousands of miles of rugged terrain, these settlers journeyed toward the Oregon Territory in search of land, opportunity, and a new future.
This historic movement helped shape the expansion of the United States and accelerated settlement in the Pacific Northwest and beyond. The Oregon Trail became a powerful symbol of determination, exploration, and westward expansion in American history, while also profoundly impacting Indigenous communities whose lands and ways of life were disrupted by increasing migration and settlement.
