A Message From the Interim Head of School

Welcome,

I came to Soundview School fifteen years ago for the International Baccalaureate (IB). It may be why you are exploring Soundview today. The IB is grounded in the understanding that when we teach our students how to ask questions and find the answers to their questions, we are empowering them with the skills to deepen their understanding of the world, identify problems, and use their knowledge to make your community and ours a better place. Soundview students show me every day what it means to be ethical, rigorous, and compassionate. 

The IB is, however, not the only reason that I continue to learn and work at Soundview, and why I chose Soundview for my children. At Soundview, kids truly are at the center of everything we do. From the way we shape our classrooms to the activities we plan, we ask, “What’s best for kids?” and every choice is made with their growth, curiosity, and joy in mind. You’ll feel it the moment you arrive—laughter in the hallways, excitement in the classrooms, and a sense of belonging that encourages children to try new things, take risks, and discover their talents and interests. Learning here isn’t just something that happens—it’s something we look forward to every single day.

I also know the best learning happens when schools work closely with students’ families. Over and over again, I have seen the value of strong, warm partnerships with families, built on trust and open communication. I know my children would not be who they are today without the guidance of some amazing Soundview teachers! Together, we create a Soundview community where every child feels supported, celebrated, and ready to thrive.
