A Spectacular & Joyful Declamations!
Dear Soundview family,
The Performing Arts Center was packed yesterday for this year’s Declamations! The students took the stage with confidence and bravery. Bravo to all of our middle school performers for an outstanding evening! Be sure to check out photos from the event below.
Grade 8 Community Project work continues! This capstone experience asks students to identify real needs in their communities and respond through meaningful service and action. Through their projects, the students demonstrate empathy, initiative, and leadership. Please read a note from Hank about the upcoming Mental Health Week that he is leading.
Erin Armstrong continues to lead our faculty, staff, and Board in the work towards full Northwest Association of Independent Schools (NWAIS) accreditation. As part of the process, we want your feedback. We’ll have a QR code for the survey available at conferences for you to complete. It will take about 10 minutes to complete. Thank you in advance. Your voice is valued and important to this process!
A Note from the Board of Trustees
The Board of Trustees sets the strategy for the future of Soundview and advises Ms. Chrissy in her leadership of the school. The Board includes current and alumni parents as well as other members of the Soundview and broader community, all of whom share a deep commitment to our school’s mission and future.
The Board is actively recruiting two or three new members to begin serving a three-year term in July 2026. This is an exciting opportunity to have a real, enduring impact on our school community. To round out the knowledge and skill sets of our current Board members, we are specifically seeking new board members with experience in finance, marketing, construction/capital projects, and/or law. If this sounds like you, or you’re interested in learning more about board service in general, we’d love to chat! Please reach out to Emily Hallowell, Teddy’s Mom, to learn more at emilyhertzer@gmail.com.
Yearbook Cover Contest
Ms. Molly and the Yearbook Club are excited to host Soundview’s 13th Annual Yearbook Cover Contest, and all students are invited to participate. This is a wonderful opportunity for students to share their creativity and contribute to a lasting memory of the school year. Please see the details and submission guidelines.
Summer Camps
Soundview’s inquiry-based Summer Camps for students entering Early Childhood – Kindergarten and Grades 6–8 are accepting registrations. We are also continuing our partnership with Steve & Kate’s Camp, offering additional options for ages 4–12. Camps are open to both Soundview families and the wider community, so feel free to invite friends. Space is limited, and we encourage you to register soon through our website.
Seattle’s Child Reader Choice Award
We have some exciting news to share! Soundview has been nominated for Seattle’s Child Family Favorites Readers’ Choice Awards in the category of Multi-Activity Day Camps, and we’re thrilled to be included! Please take a moment to vote, and feel free to share with friends and family to help support Soundview.

One more thing…
On March 20, 1973, Puerto Rican-born baseball legend Roberto Clemente was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame, making history as the first Latin American player to receive this honor.
