Hope Your Break Brought Rest and Joy!

We hope everyone had a joyful break! We are so thankful for our community, and we can't wait to welcome you all back to the Soundview campus on Monday.

Dear Soundview family,

I hope you all enjoyed a restful week. Last Friday’s Grandparents and Special Friends Day was truly wonderful, and we’re grateful to everyone who helped make it such a special occasion. Thank you to our guests, faculty, and staff, and the wonderful SPGA volunteers for helping create such a memorable day. One of our guests described our school as ‘joyful,’ and I can’t agree more! You can view photos from the celebration HERE.

If you’d like your child’s grandparent or special friend to stay connected with the school, you can share their contact information with name, email, and mailing address by submitting it HERE.

On Monday and Tuesday, our faculty and staff engaged in two days of learning and planning. Highlights included a DEIB training, continued progress on our NWAIS accreditation work, discussions about AI in schools, and dedicated time for curriculum planning. As we do each November, we updated the team on the business of the school. This year, we focused on the Board of Trustees Head of School search process and timeline, a review of strategic priorities, enrollment management updates, and the tuition and fee information for the 2026-2027 school year. Be on the lookout for a tuition letter from our Board President next week with more information.

If you know a family looking for an ethical, rigorous, and compassionate education, please send them Jill’s way. Your referrals truly matter! Families can connect with her HERE. A few reminders:

  • Sibling early admission for current families is open; priority applications are due December 5.

  • All other applications are due January 30, 2026.

A few key dates, events, and opportunities to keep in mind this month:

Soundview School Food Drive
Our schoolwide food drive is now underway. Thank you to everyone who has contributed to families in need! We delivered 438 items to the Lynnwood Food Bank this week. We’re collecting donations from now through Winter Break, with the final collection day on Thursday, December 18.

Families are encouraged to send nonperishable items with their students, as each classroom has a collection bin. While all contributions are welcome, the Food Bank has identified several high-need items, which you can view HERE.

Soundview Human Rights Rally
On December 10, students in grades 3-5 will commemorate Human Rights Day with our Second Annual Human Rights Rally. The program begins at 1:20 pm in the PAC, where students will present thoughtful speeches centered on human rights. Afterward, they’ll display their posters around campus and host a community gathering at the front entrance. The event wraps up at 2:20 pm, and families are warmly invited to join us.

Those interested in participating can reach out to Mr. MacCully HERE. To learn more about Human Rights Day and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, visit HERE.

Project Night
Save the date for Project Night on Thursday, December 11! This is an evening that is dedicated to celebrating student learning across all grade levels. Families will explore classrooms and hallways filled with student work and hands-on projects. Begin your visit in the Performing Arts Center to pick up a program. Parking opens on campus after 3:45 pm.

Event schedule:

  • Early Childhood–Grade 2: 4:00–5:00 pm

  • Grades 3–8: 5:30–6:30 pm

Childcare:

  • Early Childhood - Grade 2 students and their siblings are welcome to stay after school until their Project Night session begins at 4:00 PM.

  • Grade 3-8 students should be picked up at their regular dismissal time and return with their families for their session.

Financial Aid Deadline
A reminder that financial aid applications for current families are due December 15. For questions or support, please contact our Assistant Head of School for Finance and Operations, Hazel Estrella, HERE.

Community Coffee
Our next Community Coffee will be on Thursday, December 18, from 8:40–9:20 am in the Spanish room, just before the all-school assembly. Our last couple of gatherings have been full of great discussion. Let’s keep that energy going! Please park in the gravel lot starting at 8:30 am when you arrive. For a full list of upcoming Coffee dates, visit the Community Calendar HERE or download a printable version HERE.

Around the world and in different communities, November is a month  of recognition and awareness:

Enjoy the rest of your break, everyone!

One more thing…
On November 28, 1919, Lady Nancy Astor became the first woman to take a seat in the British House of Commons, marking a groundbreaking moment in political history. Her election to Parliament signaled a major step forward for women’s representation in government and helped pave the way for future generations of women to participate fully in public life. Her presence in the Commons challenged long-standing barriers and remains a powerful symbol of progress toward gender equality in politics. Read more about this HERE.
