Welcome Back Soundview Community!
Dear Soundview family,
Welcome back! I hope your break was refreshing. It has been wonderful to return to campus and reconnect with our community. Our students engaged in exciting learning experiences both on and off campus this week.
Today, our Grade 5 class visited the University of Washington to meet with their penpals, students involved in the Foundation for International Understanding Through Students (FIUTS). This organization fosters understanding through cross-cultural experiences, student leadership, and community connections. To learn more about FIUTS, click HERE. You can view photos from this trip below.
Our admissions season for 2026-2027 is well underway, and interest in Soundview continues to grow! Your referrals play a vital role in strengthening our community. Thank you for helping us share what makes Soundview special.
We appreciate the exceptional work of Jill Schaller, our Director of Enrollment Management, and our student and parent ambassadors, who have been warmly welcoming prospective families. A reminder about upcoming deadlines:
Sibling applications: Due today, December 5
Financial aid for current families: Due December 15
All other applications: Due January 30, 2026

Stock the Teacher Lounge
The Soundview Parent and Guardian Association (SPGA) is spreading holiday cheer to our teachers and staff with the annual “Stock the Lounge: Holiday Edition”! This beloved tradition gets a festive twist during the holiday season. Instead of our usual items, we invite you to contribute self-care items, games, travel mugs, favorite books, cozy blankets, stationery or journals, pens, art supplies, or any small treasures you love to give. These holiday favorites are assembled into gift bags for our amazing Soundview staff to take home. True to the Soundview spirit, homemade cards and heartfelt holiday wishes are always cherished! Contributions can be dropped off anytime during the week of December 15 in the main office, or SPGA will be available to collect items directly from your car during drop-off and pick-up on December 16.
Community Coffee: December 18
Our next Community Coffee will take place on Thursday, December 18, from 8:40–9:20 am in the Spanish room, right before the all-school assembly. These gatherings have sparked rich conversation, and we hope you’ll join us!
Please park in the gravel lot beginning at 8:30 am. View all upcoming dates on the Community Calendar HERE, or download the printable version HERE.
Schoolwide Food Drive
Our food drive is in full swing, and we’re grateful for the incredible generosity already shown! Hundreds of items were delivered to the Lynnwood Food Bank recently. Collections will continue until Winter Break with the final drop-off on Thursday, December 18. Students can bring nonperishable items to their classroom collection bins. The Food Bank has shared a list of high-need items, available HERE.
Winter Break
Soundview School will be closed for Winter Break from December 19 - January 2. Faculty and staff will begin the break with an in-service day on Friday, December 19, followed by full school and office closures for the remainder of the break. Please note that Monday, January 5, is also a faculty and staff workday, and there will be no school, care, or clubs for students. Classes resume at the usual time on Tuesday, January 6.
Around the world and in different communities, November is a month of recognition and awareness:

One more thing…
On December 5, 1955, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. stepped into a leadership role that would shape the course of American history when he helped lead the Montgomery Bus Boycott. Sparked by Rosa Parks’ arrest, the boycott mobilized thousands of Black residents to peacefully protest segregation by refusing to ride the city’s buses. King’s powerful advocacy for nonviolent resistance and community solidarity turned the local action into a national movement. The boycott lasted 381 days and ultimately led to a Supreme Court ruling declaring bus segregation unconstitutional—marking one of the earliest and most significant victories of the Civil Rights Movement.
