Fifth-Grade at NatureBridge!

Dear Soundview Family,

Our fifth-graders returned today from outdoor school at Naturebridge. Check our posts on Facebook or Instagram for pictures of their trip.

I’m excited to introduce Andrea Hjorten to the Soundview staff. You’ll see Andrea at the front desk in the main office as our receptionist and administrative assistant. Andrea was most recently the receptionist at the Edmonds Waterfront Center. She is also a certificated elementary and special education teacher. Please say hello and introduce yourself to Andrea.

Today is the last day to purchase Soundview clothing. Your gear will be delivered to Soundview the week of October 13th! Find shirts, sweatshirts, sweatpants, and more HERE

There is a lot to look forward to in October:

  • School picture day is Tuesday, October 10th for all students. Be sure to have those outfits picked out and hairstyles ready to capture your child’s style and personality. Soundview works with Lincoln and Lucy Photography, and you can preview their work HERE

  • Soundview Spirit Week is October 23rd through October 27th. Details and daily themes coming soon.

  • Save the date! Our Soundview Parent and Guardian Association’s BOOLING event is coming up soon on Saturday, October 28th. BOOLING is bowling in costumes, and there’s a trunk-or-treat too. This is one of our best community events, and all Soundview families are encouraged to join in the fun. Look for RSVP information next week.

There are some upcoming non-student days in October. Please review and plan for alternative childcare accordingly. There will be no before/after care or clubs on the following dates:

  • There is no school on Friday, October 13th for an all staff work professional development day. Our faculty and staff have diversity, equity, and inclusion training, and preparation for International Baccalaureate middle years program evaluation.

  • There is no school on Monday, October 30th and Tuesday, October 31st.These days are reserved for parent-teacher and student-led conferences. Details and sign-up information will be sent soon with in-person and virtual options available. Childcare will be available for the time(s) during your in-person conference(s).

Thank you to all our parents, students, faculty, and staff for a positive, enthusiastic start to the school year!

My very best to you and yours,
Chris

One more thing…
On September 29th, 1988 Stacy Allison of Portland, Oregon, became the first American woman to reach the summit of Mount Everest, which at 29,035 feet above sea level is the highest point on earth. Allison, a member of the Northwest American Everest Expedition, climbed the Himalayan peak using the southeast ridge route. You can learn more about this amazing feat HERE
