This Week at Soundview: Learning and Life on Campus!

Our faculty and staff felt truly uplifted during Teacher Appreciation Week! Thank you to our incredible SPGA and the entire Soundview community for coming together to recognize and celebrate the care, dedication, and impact of our educators.

Dear Soundview family,

This week at Soundview, we celebrated Teacher Appreciation Week, filled with thoughtful moments that recognized and uplifted our incredible educators. From coffee deliveries and stocked snack stations to a delicious pizza lunch and heartfelt notes of gratitude, it was a week full of appreciation. A very special thank you to the Soundview Parent and Guardian Association (SPGA) for their care, creativity, and dedication in making this week so meaningful. Your efforts truly made an impact on our faculty and staff!

On Wednesday, we welcomed the chairs of our Northwest Association of Independent Schools (NWAIS) accreditation team for their preliminary visit, and they declared that we are on track for a successful full team visit in November. They met with members of our staff, faculty, and Board of Trustees and experienced firsthand what makes Soundview so special. Hearing Julie and Yvan rave about the warmth and engagement of our community, the dedication of our team, and the “good vibes” on campus filled me with even more pride for Soundview. Families can support this process by completing the anonymous Soundview Parent and Guardian Survey, helping us better understand your experience, celebrate our strengths, and identify areas for continued improvement.

It was also a full week of learning, exploration, and memorable experiences for our students. Mr. MacCully’s Grade 5 class visited the Edmonds Library to deepen their research in preparation for their upcoming Exhibitions. Our middle school students partnered with Silverkite Community Arts and traveled to Chateau Pacific Senior Living for a memory box workshop connected to their design unit. The week concluded with a lively performance of Interstellar Cinderella, presented by the Kamiak Traveling Children’s Show, a wonderful way to bring the community together through the arts.

This week, our students were delighted by a lively and fun-filled performance from the Kamiak High School Children’s Show!

Class placement
The class placement process for the 2026–2027 school year for rising Grade 1 and 3 students begins next week. Our goal at Soundview is to support continuity by keeping students with their teachers for the full two-year pod experience, while also thoughtfully creating balanced, diverse learning communities within each classroom. Families of current Kindergarten and Grade 2 students will receive additional details via email. Final class placements for the 2026–2027 school year will be shared in Early August

Dress & Appearance
With warmer weather here, please ensure students are dressed comfortably and appropriately for the classroom, art, and physical activities. Younger students should wear clothing they can manage independently. For safety, open-toed shoes, sandals, clogs, flip-flops, platform shoes, high heels, and shoes with wheels are not permitted, except on designated days or for performances. All grades K–8 students should wear sneakers on PHE days. Thank you for helping support a safe, active learning environment.
