Thanks, Celebration, and Four More Days!

Dear Soundview Family,

Congratulations and thank you to our fifth grade students for an inspiring Exhibition yesterday!

Join our community and celebrate the end of the school year at the Soundview Social, hosted by our Soundview Parent/Guardian Association, this Sunday, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Meadowdale Park.

There is still space available in Soundview Summer Camp. Register HERE.

Soundview’s Board of Trustees closed the school year today at their annual retreat. Our board has been working on strategic planning with consultants and community members. Next fall, we will roll out the details of the school’s two areas of strategic priority: diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging; and defining and enabling the future growth of the school.

We thank three trustees who are finishing their service to Soundview. Alison Suttles has been strategic and visionary throughout her ten years on the Soundview board. Alison is most proud of supporting Soundview’s commitment to neurodiversity by making the Skills Collaborative program possible. Olga Owens has brought a diverse perspective and legal expertise to our board for three years of service. And Felix Amador has brought expertise in risk management, as well as an historical perspective to our board for three years. Thank you all.

Our board also welcomes seven new trustees who start their service on July 1st:

  • Amanda Campbell is a parent of current early childhood and kindergarten students. She previously worked in higher education and currently works in development and alumni engagement at Lakeside School.

  • Elizabeth Heard Hodgson is the Assistant Head of School at Giddens School. She also taught at various schools including thirteen years at an International Baccalaureate school overseas.

  • Rowell Llanillo is a soon-to-be alumni parent. He works as a graphic designer.

  • Christine Stansfield is the parent of a current second-grader. She works at Sno-Isle Libraries and has extensive non-profit experience.

  • Esther Steinman is a parent of a current kindergartner. She is a certified public accountant.

  • Doug Suttles is a parent of a current seventh-grader and a Soundview alum. He is a business executive in the technology industry.

  • Nani Vishwanath is a parent of a current kindergartner and incoming early childhood student. She works in diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Look for more information from our board next fall.

Four more days, my friends.
