Graduation, Achievement, Memorial Day, and Juneteenth!

Dear Soundview Family, 

We honor Memorial Day. Soundview is closed on Monday, May 29 and Tuesday, May 30. School resumes on Wednesday, May 31. Learn more about Memorial Day HERE.

Congratulations to all middle years students on a successful and funny Declamations yesterday. The video of their performance will be available soon via Toddle. 

The end of the school year is fast approaching. Here is a list of Soundview events to close out the 2022-2023 school year: 

  • The fifth-grade’s Exhibition is open to the entire community on June 8, from  4:00 to 5:00 PM in Soundview’s classrooms and Performing Arts Center. The Exhibition is the culminating project of the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program. Fifth-graders around the world are doing the same thing! You will talk with students about a global issue they’ve selected form the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals. Read more about the goals HERE

  • Please mark your calendar for Soundview’s Spring Social, hosted by the Soundview Parent/Guardian Association on Sunday, June 11, 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Meadowdale Park, 5700 168th St SW, Lynnwood, WA 98037. This is a great time to meet and mingle with other Soundview parents! 

  • Soundview’s All School Achievement Ceremony is on the last day of school, Thursday, June 15, at 9:15 AM. 

  • Teachers will communicate about individual end-of-year classroom celebrations via Toddle.

  • Soundview Eighth-grade Graduation and reception is Thursday, June 15, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. All are welcome to attend. Reserved and priority seating will be provided for families of eighth-grade students. 

  • All Soundview offices will be closed Monday, June 19 in observance of the Juneteenth holiday.

One more thing… 

Juneteenth is a federal holiday in the United States commemorating the emancipation of enslaved African Americans. President Joe Biden signed the Juneteenth National Independence Day Act into law after the efforts of Lula Briggs Galloway, Opal Lee, and others. Read more about Juneteenth HERE.
