A Note From Soundview: Mid-Summer Edition

Our Soundview campers are enjoying a fun-filled summer of adventures!

Dear Soundview families,

We hope you’re having a wonderful summer! We've been thoroughly enjoying both Soundview and Steve & Kate’s Summer Camps, and it’s been a joy to see the students engaged in such a wide variety of activities. From beach outings and spray park fun to Slurpee stops, backpacking expeditions, and adventures around Puget Sound, our campers are making unforgettable memories. You can view photos from Soundview camps below.

Also, don’t forget to share your summertime adventures with us by tagging Soundview in your photos on Facebook or Instagram so we can celebrate the season with you!

We wanted to take a moment to check in, say hello, and share a few exciting updates and reminders:

Staffing Update: Welcome to Our New Team Members!
We’re excited to introduce two wonderful additions to the Soundview team:

  • Kira Shively-Pelayo will be joining our Early Childhood team as an EY Assistant Teacher and After Care Lead. Kira holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Washington and brings a rich and varied background of professional experience. As a dedicated Soundview parent of two, she has already made a meaningful impact as a volunteer and community ambassador. We are excited to officially welcome Kira to the staff and look forward to the care and enthusiasm she will bring to our youngest learners.

  • Dominique Niang will be stepping into the role of MYP Skills Collaborative Teacher. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Community Psychology from the University of Washington and recently completed her Master’s in Teaching. With more than a decade of classroom experience, Dominique brings both deep educational knowledge and a passion for student growth. We are delighted to have her join the Soundview team and support our Middle Years students in developing essential academic and life skills.

Enrollment Opportunities
Limited openings remain in several grades for the upcoming school year. If you know a student who would thrive with an ethical, rigorous, and compassionate education, please connect with Victoria Nunes HERE.

Thank you for your continued support and for being an essential part of our Soundview community!

Warmly,
Chrissy Sinclair
Interim Head of School

One more thing…
On July 18, 1947, Florence A. Blanchfield became the first woman to receive a regular commission in the U.S. Army. A pioneering nurse and military leader, she was appointed a lieutenant colonel, marking a historic moment for women in the armed forces and paving the way for future generations of female officers.
