Dolphin Day: Tuesday, September 2
Our annual Dolphin Day is a special welcome and orientation event for new and returning students and families. It’s a great opportunity to visit campus, see classrooms, meet teachers, and gather important information, all while easing into the school year. While attendance is encouraged, it is not required.

Schedule:

  • Early Childhood – Grade 2: 1:30 pm -  2:30 pm

  • Grades 3-8: 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm

  • Note: Families with students in both time blocks may attend whichever session works best for them.

First day of school: Wednesday, September 3
Soundview uses a rolling drop-off and pick-up system. Please enter via the west driveway, staying to the left of the cones for K-8 drop-off, and follow staff instructions to ensure a smooth and safe process. View the drop-off and pick-up map HERE.

Drop-off times:

  • Early Childhood & Kindergarten: 8:30 am -  9:00 am

  • Grades 1-8: 8:20 am - 8:40 am

Pick-up times:

  • Early Childhood & Kindergarten: 3:00 pm - 3:30 pm

  • Grades 1-5: 3:10 pm - 3:40 pm

  • Grades 6-8: 3:30 pm - 3:40 pm

Arrival tips:

  • Follow all staff directions.

  • Arrive during your designated window (not early).

    • Pro tip: Arriving later in your window helps reduce congestion.

  • Stay in your car and have your child’s belongings ready.

  • If possible, seat your child on the driver’s side.

  • Pull as far forward as possible in the line.

Carpool coordination:
Several families have expressed interest in carpooling to and from school. If you're interested in joining a neighborhood carpool group, please contact Victoria Nunes, as she is helping coordinate interested families and will be happy to assist. Victoria can be reached HERE

  • Note: During the school year, should you have changes to your regularly scheduled pick-up or carpooling arrangements, please email the Soundview main office at attendance@soundview.org.

Communication you can count on:

  • Weekly Friday letters from me will resume on Friday, August 22, with key updates and reminders.

  • Welcome emails from teachers will be sent on Tuesday, August 26, at 5:00 pm. These messages include classroom-specific details and your Toddle login (our classroom communication platform).

  • Future classroom updates will be shared via Toddle every Tuesday. We recommend downloading the Toddle app for easy access.

  • Follow us on Facebook and Instagram to relive memorable moments and stay connected throughout the school year.

School morning/afternoon care, clubs & activities:
Registration will open to all registered Soundview students on August 29. Stay tuned!

What to bring (and what not to!):
No need to purchase classroom supplies!
Soundview provides all required materials. Families are responsible for the following:

  • Band instruments: Required for Grades 5-8. Additional details will come on August 26.

  • Chromebooks: Required for Grades 6-8 (not needed the first week). Additional details will come on August 26. For Chromebook questions, contact Director of Technology, Nikita Sharma, HERE.

Medication forms:
If your child requires medication at school and you haven’t submitted the necessary forms, please complete them HERE as soon as possible.

Parent Portal access:
You’re all set! We’ve collected the information for the start of the year.

  • For forms, resources, and school-wide information, visit the Parent Portal HERE.

We can’t wait for students to discover and enjoy the new library space now nestled above the PAC!

Exciting updates to our learning spaces:

  • Soundview is excited to announce that Spanish classes now have a new, centralized home. The language lab is in the former library space. With a dedicated room for the entire school, students will enjoy a more immersive and consistent language learning experience. This new setup supports deeper engagement, cultural exploration, and a stronger sense of community around our Spanish program.

  • We’re also thrilled to share that the Soundview Library has officially moved to its new location upstairs in the Performing Arts Center loft! This bright, welcoming space is the perfect place for students to explore, imagine, and discover. As we settle into the new space, we have many shelves waiting to be filled with new books. If you'd like to help grow our collection, please visit our Library Wish List to get involved and support a love of reading at Soundview by visiting HERE!

Questions? We’re here to help!
Our administrative team is available and happy to support you. For general questions, reach out to our Office Manager, Andrea Hjorten HERE.

Enjoy the rest of your summer, and we can’t wait to see you soon!

Warmly,
Chrissy Sinclair
Interim Head of School

One more thing…
On August 8, 2009, Sonia Sotomayor was sworn in as an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court. Born in the Bronx to Puerto Rican parents, Sotomayor is the first Hispanic justice to serve on the nation's highest court. You can learn more about this HERE.
