Soundview Giving and Winter Break!

Dear Soundview Families,

During our State of the School, our Board of Trustees President Shawn Heidel talked about the importance of philanthropy in independent schools, as well as his own experience as a donor at Sounview. He provided insight, education, and statistics that directly connect the Annual Campaign to our students’ experience. You can view Shawn’s clip HERE

THANK YOU to our generous supporters of Soundview’s Annual Campaign! There is still time to make your gift. These gifts make Soundview ethical, rigorous, and compassionate this year and beyond. To learn why we give please visit HERE.

If you have been putting off your gift, there is truly no time like the present! Please take a moment, click HERE, and cross this off your to-do list before the end of the year. We know how busy the holidays can be. Why not get this one done today?

A BIG shoutout to our most recent round of donors!

Here are some events and opportunities as we near the end of the year:

  • Soundview School is now closed for Winter Break. The school and offices will be closed from December 18th through January 1st for the break. School resumes for students on Wednesday, January 3rd at the usual time.

  • The Before and After Care and Clubs options are now available to book for the Winter and Spring of 2024. We have seen a large amount of registration already and clubs are filling up fast, please be sure to register your student by visiting HERE.

  • Admissions builds a healthy and thriving school community. Referrals from current families are most valuable. All applications are due February 2nd, 2024. For more information or questions, please contact Victoria HERE.

  • Snow is falling and the resorts are opening! The ski/snowboard bus to Snoqalmie and lessons with Issaquah Ski School are still available this year at Soundview on Saturdays throughout the winter. Registration is currently open for the upcoming season which you can view HERE

Wishing everyone a restful break and see you next year,

Chris

One more thing…
On December 15, 1973, at a time when society had very mixed views of gay people, the American Psychiatric Association reversed a century-old decision by issuing a resolution stating that homosexuality is neither a mental illness nor a sickness. To underline the point, the association removes homosexuality from its influential reference tool, the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders. You can read more about this HERE.
