Vacation Time, a Gala, and a Concert. It’s a great time of year at Soundview School!

The Soundview Gala, a night of comedy and giving March 18, 6:30 to 9:00 PM

Dear Soundview Family,

Soundview is not Soundview without your strong support. That’s why we have the Annual Fundraising Gala. This year’s gala will be held on March 18 from 6:30 through 9:00 PM. This is a ticketed event with the cost of the ticket going to support our teachers’ salaries and our students’ financial aid.

The Gala is going to be a very casual event (think sliders and wine). Come ready for the comedic mastery of Soundview parent and professional stand-up comic, Taylor Clark (a grown-up with kids and everything), and stay to swoon to the musical stylizations of Adam Creighton and Soundview’s own Bill Good (suave piano and a wailing harmonica). After the entertainment, there will be a paddle-raise. For more information, click HERE. Childcare is available for registered Soundview students. To learn more about childcare for the event, click HERE.

Starting today and running through March 10, our middle-years students will participate in a nonviolent communication workshop with Snohomish County Domestic Violence Services. You can meet one of their educators at our regular Community Coffee for parents on March 8, at 9:10 AM in our Performing Arts Center. You can learn more about Snohomish County Domestic Violence Services HERE

Report cards are important. Chrissy Sinclair will be hosting some drop-in report card reading sessions for parents in March. She will walk you through the International Baccalaureate assessment standards and the depth of information in Soundview’s report cards. Look for the specific dates/times via your regular Toddle communication.

The fifth-grade band, the middle-years concert band, and the orchestra gave a concert yesterday and it was wonderful! We will have a link to a video of the presentation in the next regular email.

The Washington State Department of Health updated its COVID decision tree. These are the standards that will guide Soundview. You can learn more HERE

You can find Soundview’s 2023-2024 “major dates” HERE

Vacation time is here! Soundview is closed for mid-winter break next week, February 20 through 24. School resumes on Monday February 27, 2023. Have a great holiday.

My best to you and your family,

Chris

One more thing…

On this day in 1897, the National Congress of Parents and Teachers, better known as the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA), was founded in Washington, D.C., as the National Congress of Mothers. Learn more HERE.
