Closing One Chapter, Looking Forward to the Next!
Congratulations to our 2026 grade 8 class, which had a combined total of 87 years of experience at Soundview!
Dear Soundview families,
What a remarkable year it has been! As we close the chapter on another school year, I am filled with gratitude and pride for all that our students, faculty, staff, and families have accomplished together. This week, we celebrated our students’ growth in academics, the arts, leadership, and personal development, while also reflecting on the meaningful relationships and strong sense of community that make Soundview such a special place.
One of the highlights of the week was celebrating the graduation of the Class of 2026 on Wednesday evening. If you have never been to a Soundview graduation, you should. They are always inspiring. Our graduates share their Community Projects and demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and confidence they have developed throughout their Soundview journey. And our faculty share thoughtful, funny, and poignant reflections about each student. These reflections remind me every year just how well our faculty know your students. We are incredibly proud of our graduates; we will miss their kindness and compassion, and are excited to hear about their next adventures. Thank you to our entire community for partnering with us to nurture ethical, rigorous, and compassionate learners.
We concluded the year in the forest with our beloved Achievement Ceremony. Together, we recognized our Class Captains, IB MYP award recipients, Edmonds Arts Festival artists, and the yearbook cover contest winner. Students reflected on the year through our Move-Up tradition, while our Early Childhood students honored their Grade 8 learning buddies with leis and heartfelt well wishes. During the Achievement Ceremony, we also celebrate and thank those who are moving on from Soundview. This year, we extended special appreciation to Ms. Laura, Mr. Ryan, and Ms. Nikita for their dedication, warmth, and commitment to our school. Their impact on our community has been significant, and while they will be missed, I have no doubt we will see them around campus in the years ahead. Accompanied by the beautiful music of our orchestra, it was a fitting and meaningful celebration of the year and a wonderful reflection of the Soundview experience.

One more thing…
On June 12, 1929, Anne Frank was born in Frankfurt, Germany. One of the most recognized voices of the Holocaust, Anne's story continues to educate and inspire people around the world. On her 13th birthday, she received a diary as a gift. Just one month later, Anne and her family went into hiding in Amsterdam to escape Nazi persecution during World War II. In the pages of that diary, she documented her hopes, fears, challenges, and dreams while living in hiding.
Published after the war as The Diary of a Young Girl, Anne's writings have become one of the most important firsthand accounts of the Holocaust. Her words provide a powerful reminder of the human cost of hatred, discrimination, and intolerance, while also highlighting the resilience of the human spirit. More than 75 years later, Anne Frank's legacy continues to encourage empathy, understanding, and a commitment to justice and human dignity. Read about Anne Frank.
