What is a Student Ambassador?

  • A Student Ambassador is a student leader who helps represent Soundview School. 

  • Ambassadors love their school and show kindness, leadership, and teamwork. 

  • Ambassadors are good at listening to people, talking to people about our school, working well with each other, and learning how to lead.

  • Ambassadors are ethical, rigorous, and compassionate. They are the students at Soundview who really demonstrate these traits.

  • Being chosen as an Ambassador is a special honor.

What does a Student Ambassador do?

  • We help with school events.

  • We assist with new student orientation.

  • We welcome new students and families to our school.

  • We answer questions about the school and student life.

  • We help host admissions and other fun events.

  • We help give tours of the school.

  • We work to create a friendly and positive school atmosphere.

  • We share ideas with school leaders about how to keep and attract new students.

Why is it important to have Student Ambassadors?

  • A school needs to have Student Ambassadors because they help make new students and families feel welcome. 

  • Ambassadors also show people what’s great about the school, answer questions, and help everyone feel like part of the school community. People looking at a school don’t always want to hear from the adults; they want to hear from the students. Ambassadors are trained to do this really well!

  • They are leaders who help create a friendly and fun atmosphere, making the school a better place for everyone.

What do you get out of being a Student Ambassador?

  • Students who become Student Ambassadors get to be leaders and help others, which can make them feel proud.

  • They make new friends, learn how to talk to different people, and build confidence.

  • Being an Ambassador also teaches them teamwork and responsibility, and it can be a fun way to get more involved in their school. Plus, it’s a special honor to be chosen!

  • Also, being a Student Ambassador is really helpful for eighth graders applying to high schools. It shows that they are leaders who are motivated and care about helping others.

  • High schools like to see students who are involved in their school and who make a difference.

  • When they put "Student Ambassador" on their application, it looks great because it proves they have important skills like teamwork, communication, and problem-solving.

  • It can help them stand out and show that they’re ready for the next big step!

How do I become a Student Ambassador?

  • Fill out an application.

  • Get a signature from your teacher.

  • Meet with Ms. Jill (optional)

  • Get selected!

Answers to Questions:

  • Yes. We are making changes to the Student Ambassador Program this year and all interested students will need to submit an application.

  • Yes!

  • Not every tour. This year we will rotate between ambassadors for tours coming into classrooms.

  • Yes! There will be more training, a “thank you” lunch, and more opportunities to get involved both during the school day and during after school events.
