On Friday February 1st the Soundview Middle School headed to the Lake City Community Center to join with elder heritage Spanish speakers in a project you can read more about [here](link to: https://www.soundview.org/soundview-school/2019/1/29/in-spanish-cantemos-means-we-sing).
Our session opened up with introductions and brief Spanish conversation.
Then, Don Sephy and Dr. Kulik introduced a short music video and song about sharing culture between generations, linked here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sLXdymFcmeo&feature=youtu.be
Don Sephy explained many of the interesting cultural aspects of this video, and that segued into another structured discussion between the students and elders about where they were from.
After the discussion students and elders stood to share about where they were from through miming.
After we all shared, the students ate lunch with the elders and bid them farewell. We can’t wait for our next visit!
