Staff and Faculty

Relationships are built on trust, compassion, understanding, and respect. Academic, social, and emotional growth is highly dependent upon the strong relationships that students build with their teachers and the strong partnerships that are established between parents and teachers.

Board of Trustees

The role of the Board of Trustees is to have vision and to govern the overall well-being of Soundview School. If you have any questions or are interested in becoming a board member, please email svboard@soundview.org.

Elizabeth Smith, Board President

Elizabeth is a builder. She enjoys building strategies from ideas, commercial enterprises from startups, and leaders from managers. With her collaborative approach and candid communication style, Elizabeth seeks clarity of vision and priorities. She creates a strong framework for sound decision making to ensure the balance of risks and opportunities. Professionally, she applied a passion for strategy and problem solving at multiple biotech companies and her main focus now is putting these principles to work on the school’s board. With two graduates of Soundview, Elizabeth sees in her daughters and their peers the impact of the school’s mission to educate our community’s future leaders—and the future looks bright!

Vianne Reay, Board Vice President

Vianne thinks Soundview is the kind of school every child deserves to attend; one that is a caring, safe community where students love to learn in authentic, relevant ways. She should know, having seen many schools as she taught music, visual arts, integrated arts and pre-service education to Kindergarten thru adult, nationally and internationally, in 28 years of teaching. That kind of environment helped her twin sons thrive at Soundview from Kindergarten through 8th grade, and made them feel well prepared for high school. Vianne keeps learning herself by taking online art courses, playing percussion in a band and exploring through geocaching. “It is inspiring to serve in a school that is leading the way in education!”

Alison Suttles, Board Secretary

Since 2010 when Alison was “strongly encouraged” to be a room parent during the first weeks of her oldest child starting school for the first time, the stage was set. Alison had always thought she’d be someone in the background, blending in and staying out of the way. Soundview School had other plans for her. In the many years since, Alison has been happy to step out of her comfort zone and utilize a long-held skill of being willing to learn how to do new things for the first time. As a room parent, dedicated volunteer, and now trustee, she is encouraged to experience firsthand how compassionate, ethical leadership can be encouraged in kindergarten, in 6th grade, and in adulthood.

Todd Miller, Board Treasurer

Born and raised in Washington, Todd found himself living in Arizona, until eventually his love of all things trees brought him back. It's only fitting that his family found a school with their own personal forest! However, it wasn't just the forest that drew them to Soundview, but the flexibility the International Baccalaureate curriculum offers, and the well-rounded students that the school produces. All of this ties the school in well with what has been a common refrain in Todd's life: "jack of all trades and a master of none." Todd absolutely believes in the mission of the school and will actively do what he can to help it succeed, whether that is fulfilling his duties as a trustee, or as a classroom “Mystery Reader!”

Rachel Read, Board Member

In 2016, Rachel wanted to become more involved in her son’s new school. She was introduced to the Parent and Guardian Association, where they enthusiastically put her to work as a volunteer coordinator. In the past, Rachel worked at a non-profit with children who were in dire need of a safe community that represented a healthy family and a strong support system. She and her family found that same, safe community setting at Soundview, and they are excited to grow with the school. Becoming a member of the Board of Trustees was a natural step, as it placed her among a team of individuals who are also passionate about the school. Her goal is to keep Soundview a strong leader in the community and help other families become involved.

Christi Trimble-Kreutz, Board Member

Inspired by people who strive to do what is right, not what is easy, Christi’s parents are her biggest heroes for living and teaching that model. A mom of 4, she is a passionate supporter of educating kids to be curious and confident, display empathy, stay open-minded and become future leaders. The International Baccalaureate program offered at Soundview drew Christi and her husband to enroll their 2 youngest kids in 2013. The family continues to be committed to the school not only for the phenomenal education, but for the sense of community it provides. As a small business owner and creative thinker, Christi has the ability to see unique solutions, while working as part of a team to brainstorm, critique, and implement ideas.
