7th & 8th Grade Students in Our Local News!

peaceandconflict.jpgSoundview 7th and 8th grade students participated in a dynamic 2-day Peace & Conflict workshop Thursday, 2/4 and Friday, 2/5, facilitated by Mr. Carl Hobert of the Boston-based non-profit Axis of Hope. Mr. Hobert travels the country, engaging students and teachers to foster global citizenship and develop compassion and empathy for one another and for people around the world. Our hope is that this intensive hands-on learning experience has helped our students to analyze, manage and prevent conflict on an internationally, local and personal scale.

The Enterprise and HeraldNet published articles prior to the workshop. Following the workshop, an article was also published on the Lynnwood KOMO website. Click on each of the links to check them out!

Should your child attend Soundview School?

In the current economic climate of public school budget cutting, how can you be sure your child will receive the education they need for future success?

The world is changing rapidly and becoming more competitive. Students need to be ready not just for the world of today, but for worlds yet unimagined. At Soundview School, every child is given the opportunity to step into a world of possibility.

Soundview's curriculum standard is much higher than at most schools. We incorporate the International Baccalaureate (IB) Program and Singapore math curriculum, so our students not only excel in reading, writing and math concepts, but also exploring, creating, making, thinking, discovering, and understanding big concepts. Children learn in a rigorous and enriched academic environment, where they also study visual art, music, drama, Spanish, and inquiry-based science several times a week. Soundview’s emphasis on the arts helps each child to develop high levels of self-expression and creativity.

Soundview IB Programme

Soundview School is fully authorized to teach the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (MYP). Soundview received authorization as an IB World School in 2009. These are schools that share a common philosophy—a commitment to high quality, challenging, international education—that Soundview believes is important for our students.

Soundview School is preparing to pursue authorization in the International Baccalaureate's Primary Years Programme (PYP). Once completed, Soundview would be the only independent IB school in Washington, Oregon or Alaska to offer both of these rigorous, internationally-known college preparatory programs.

Our Mission...

Soundview School educates intellectually motivated students to become knowledgeable, compassionate and ethical citizens and leaders.

We cultivate international-mindedness, creativity and passion for learning through inquiry, integrated projects, and meaningful assessment in academics, the arts, service and self-expression.

We embrace diversity and work to build our school and local communities around reflection, caring, respect and trust.
