Early Childhood Assistant & Extended Care

The full-time Early Childhood Assistant and Extended Care position is an exciting instructional opportunity for a progressive, constructivist, and collaborative teacher to support the delivery of four IB units of inquiry. In addition, the EC Assistant uses developmentally-appropriate literacy and numeracy curriculum and collaborates to integrate language acquisition, art, music, and physical education. 

Basic Duties of All Teachers Include:

  • IB Unit planning, instruction, assessment, and reporting. 
  • Collaborative planning with teaching teams.
  • Various supervisory duties.
  • Ongoing program review and revision.
  • Full participation in the life of the school and students, including evening events.

Qualifications:

  • Be at least 18 years of age or older.
  • Have completed a high school education or the equivalent.
  • Have documented child development education or work experience, or is able to complete STARS training within six months of being hired. 
  • Classroom experience and/or teaching certificate preferred.
  • IB and independent school experience preferred.

K-5 Personal, Social, and Physical Education Teacher

(.4 FTE, Monday-Thursday, with opportunity for increased employment)

The Personal, Social, and Physical Education (PSPE) position is an exciting instructional opportunity for a progressive, constructivist, and collaborative elementary teacher. PSPE includes all the aspects of a traditional PE program enmeshed with personal health development and explicit instruction in social interactions.

Summer Camp Teacher or Assistant

We offer a seven week Summer Camp focused on inquiry and exploration. Our program is designed to foster inquiry based learning experiences that engage students in exploration, discovery, and innovation.

Summer Camp teaching positions provide an exciting instructional opportunity for a progressive, constructivist, and collaborative teacher. Soundview has Summer Camp job openings for:

  • An Early Childhood Teacher who delivers a weekly theme to 3-5 year olds
  • An Early Childhood Assistant who supports the lead teacher with 3-5 year olds
  • A Primary Teacher who delivers a weekly theme to 1st through 6th grade students

These positions could also be combined with before or after-care duties.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Plan themed curriculum for each week, emphasizing inquiry and play-based learning
  • Supervise and instruct students throughout the day
  • Communicate with families in a positive, professional manner
  • Collaborate with other Summer Camp teachers, Junior Counselors, and/or Director

Qualifications for the Early Childhood Summer Camp Assistant:

  • Be at least 16 years of age or older.
  • Works under the direct supervision of a lead teacher.

Qualifications for the Early Childhood Summer Camp Teacher:

  • Be at least 18 years of age or older.
  • Have completed a high school education or the equivalent.
  • Have documented child development education or work experience, or is able to complete STARS training within six months of being hired.
  • Classroom experience and/or teaching certificate preferred.

Qualifications for the Primary Summer Camp Teacher:

  • AA degree required
  • Teaching experience required
  • BA or BS from an accredited college or university preferred
  • Teaching certificate preferred

Compensation:

  • Hourly rate commensurate with experience, qualifications, and benchmarked with peer schools.
  • The stipend for this position is $680 per week.
  • Small school environment.
