Soundview is a small independent school for Early Childhood through Grade 8 students. We offer our students the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years and Middle Years programs. The curriculum is inquiry-based and planned collaboratively by the teaching team and IB Coordinator.


Primary Teacher

The primary teaching position is an exciting instructional opportunity for a progressive, constructivist, and collaborative early elementary teacher. The primary teacher partners to deliver six IB units of inquiry on a three-year rotation to kindergarten through 2nd grade students. In addition, the primary teacher uses foundational literacy and numeracy curriculum and collaborates with specialist teachers to integrate language acquisition, art, music, and physical education.

Basic Duties of All Teachers Include:

  • First and foremost, care for social, emotional, and developmental needs of primary students and families.
  • IB Unit planning, instruction, assessment, and reporting. 
  • Collaborative planning with teaching teams.
  • Various supervisory duties.
  • Ongoing program review and revision.
  • Full participation in the life of the school and students.

Qualifications:

  • BA or BS from an accredited college or university.
  • Excellent classroom management skills and knowledge of child development.
  • Classroom experience and/or teaching certificate preferred.
  • IB and independent school experience preferred.

Administrative Assistant

The Administrative Assistant position is an exciting opportunity for a progressive and collaborative individual to support the administrative and teaching teams deliver exceptional service and education. 

Basic Duties of All Administrators Include:

  • First and foremost, care for social, emotional, and developmental needs of students and families.
  • Collaborative planning with admin team.
  • Full participation in the life of the school and students.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver an exceptional customer service experience for all families, visitors, vendors, delivery people, trustees, and all others.
  • Prioritize effectively in a busy office environment with a calm, flexible approach. A sense of humor is greatly appreciated.
  • Help with communications and support our day-to-day operations, including attendance and calendaring.
  • Handle multiple phone lines for the office; screen, and forward phone calls.
  • Process daily incoming and outgoing mail, email, and faxes.
  • Greet visitors and answer their questions amicably.
  • Data entry and Accounts Receivables.
  • Office supply inventory, ordering, and receiving.
  • Maintain common office areas, kitchen, and bulletin boards.
  • Update and maintain filing system, school database, and emergency preparedness documents and procedures.
  • Prepare, distribute, and collect annual summer mailings and family information updates.
  • Maintain student files and registrar duties. 
  • Apply general first aid care, prepare and maintain allergy and medication lists and forms.
  • Assist with school event preparation & follow-up (reminders, nametags, programs, thank you notes, etc.). 
  • Manage and distribute school lunches.
  • Support, manage, prepare, and organize Head of School and Board materials. 

Qualifications:

  • Excellent and proactive communication skills. 
  • Reception/administrative support experience is preferred.
  • AA/BA preferred.
  • At least an intermediate level ability of MS Office Suite products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher) and Google tools (Docs, Spreadsheets, Forms). 
  • High level of attention to detail; focused with strong organizational skills.
  • Strong telephone etiquette, grammar, and English language proficiency. 
  • Ability to flex hours for evening and weekend events.
