Academics grant you knowledge, but the arts allow expression.
An essential part of understanding the world both past and present, Soundview offers an unparalleled program to develop keen eyes, finely-tuned ears and love of well-penned cadence. From ancient Greece to the present day, societies have used the arts to help children think critically, develop higher communication skills and simply have fun.
At Soundview, we eagerly build on this tradition. Classes explore dimension, point of view, positive and negative space and more in countless paintings, drawings and sketches, while ceramics and multi-media projects introduce principles of design, structure and form. Song, dance, easy-to-pick-up instruments and the brass and bass of middle school band delight young ears and build a deep interest in tone, pitch, sheet music and scales.
On stage or in our amphitheater, class plays, skits and programs breathe life into public speaking, physical interpretation and an excitement to perform. Lining our walls or set before an audience, Soundview arts illustrate the amazing talent and individuality of our students, and consistently win recognition at prestigious festivals and fairs.
These beautiful paintings were created by our 5th Grade Students as a fine arts component to their study of Pacific Northwest birds (click to enlarge):
