In Kindergarten, Soundview students noticeably start to come into their own. Achieving at a level far above their peers, these eager five- and six-year-olds create stories, apply math and test scientific theories while becoming fluent readers. Arts (including visual arts, drama, and music) and the outside world take their place as primary components of the Soundview curriculum through field trips, an introduction to art history, class performances and community service. Small, individually attentive classes with a low teacher-student ratio encourage self-confidence, emotional growth and reinforce values like sharing and a positive worldview. Taught with a changing variety of individual and group exercises, this year sets a comprehensive foundation for a curiosity-driven education.
