Adventure Camp 2010 Print

For children ages 6-12

With two awesome themes packed into each week, Adventure Camp offers a dynamic program that will stimulate your child intellectually, emotionally and physically. Examples of group and special interest activities include: art, music production, robotics, games, science experiments, orienteering, dance, skateboarding, chess and more!

Campers will enjoy field trips and special projects throughout the summer. 

Weekly Themes for Summer 2010!

Week One: June 21-25
Game-A-Palooza  Gamers unite! Come to this camp to get all your game playing cravings filled. Board games, card games, tag games, Capture the Flag & games that you can teach us.  
Field Trip: Funtasia Fun Park!
Playground Patrol  Do you know what makes a playground a truly great playground? If so, then this is your camp. Travel to different playgrounds & try them out.

Week Two: June 28-July 2              
Creative Construction  Build anything you can imagine out of interesting & unusual items.  Create using your hands, tools & elbow grease. Take a trip to the Creation Station to take advantage of their expertise in imaginative building.

Ultimate  This is truly an Ultimate camp! Really, we will be learning all about how to play Ultimate, the fast paced Frisbee game that keeps you movin’ & groovin’. Did you know there are at least five different ways to throw a Frisbee? Come find out how to perform all five of them and learn about this super fun game!

Week Three: July 5-9                    
Wheelz  Come spin your wheels at this fast moving camp. Bring your scooter, skateboard, inline skates, Waveboard, Ripstick or skateboard. If you are a beginner, lessons will be provided by Mr. C & Mr. Devin. Head out to skate parks in the area to practice your skills. Younger campers can enjoy riding on our fast four wheeled scooters that are low to the ground & provide large surface area for balance.

Super Science  Zip, Boom, Bang! Have fun applying scientific principles to cool activities. Watch as things roll, fly & spin all over the place. Learn what makes these actions happen as you conduct your experiments.

Week Four: July 12-16         
Orienteering  Navigate your way using a map & a compass. Work as a team with others to find each designated spot on the map & return back to the start as fast as possible. Create your own course & challenge others to navigate it. 
Field Trip: Local Parks
Outdoor Challenge  Spend time hiking through the woods in our area. Make shelters, pitch tents & make s’mores. Bring a backpack & bug spray & we will travel to different trails to explore.

Week Five: July 19-23    
Chess  Learn strategies from an expert chess instructor. Lead your opponent into your cleverly disguised trap &...checkmate! Enjoy the friendship of other like minded chess fanatics. This is an all-day chess camp.
*There will be no other themes this week.

Week Six: July 26-30
Strange Sports  Are you tired of the same old sports that everybody plays? Learn new & unusual sports that are actually played in countries around the world. Create your own new game by making the rules & designing the playing field.  
Field Trip: Sky High Sports (Bellevue) – A huge room completely covered by trampolines!
Movie Maker  Create movies on a computer by choosing the characters, setting & story. Program your characters to say & do what you want. Make your movie silly, serious or action-packed! Share your movie-making genius with other movie buff campers in your directorial debut.

Week Seven: August 2-6
Robot Builder  Build your very own robot that will perform exciting actions that you tell it to do. Learn about the robot’s circuit board & all the parts that give it the power to move. Take the robot home at the end of the camp!
Discovering Asian Art  Have an adventure & join us on the Papaya Express Train to discover Asian Art. In this camp, we will explore Sumi painting, calligraphy art, origami, ceramic art & printmaking. You will bring home beautiful paintings of nature & animals, Asian style vases, & art prints to amaze yourself & your friends.
 
Week Eight: August 8-13
Beach Bash  Take trips to the different beaches in our area. Enjoy the water, sun & beach games that can be played while there. Bring water bottles, swimsuit & sunscreen/block.

Summer Art  Why make art inside, when the weather is beautiful outside? In this camp we will explore many creative ways to make art in the great outdoors. Some highlights of the week are ice cube painting, s& art, beach art, Tie-Dye, sun print & watercolor art. Weather permitting; we will go to nearby Edmonds Beach to draw, play & splash!
