The Soundview Summer Program offers an exciting and diverse blend of activities that create a truly unique experience for our campers. The dramatic, visual and performing arts, along with engaging and adventurous weekly themes, make the Soundview summer experience extra special. Campers will experience hands-on science experiments and learning projects with a dynamic summer twist. Our beautiful wooded campus and dedicated staff provide a safe environment for campers to explore, play, learn, make memories, develop friendships and have fun!

Camps run from June 18th through August 3rd
June 18th through 22nd
AM: RC Car Racing
Customize and race OFF-ROAD radio controlled cars while progressing to different levels of skill. Play driving games that use magnets for capturing other cars and props, police car chases, obstacle courses, and much more. Learn math and architecture through the construction of ramps, bridges, tunnels, and other obstacles. Practice teamwork skills while racing up to 15 cars on the same track!
PM: iPad2 Animation - Air
Animate scenes with fantastical and realistic characters flying through the air with wings, propellers, jet packs, magic, hot air, and giant slingshots, etc. Students will explore some basics on the history of flight for inspiration while animating on the iPad2's program called DoInk. Classes focus on hand-drawn animation skills, character and background construction, and storyboarding. In addition they will use the ipad2 to edit their own video and sound effects on iMovie, and create an original music score on Garage Band. AM: Lego Animation - Robots
Use a variety of hinge, swivel, telescoping, and other LEGO® pieces to bring a robot to life through Stop-motion animation (bring in pieces from home too!). Students will take photos with the iPad2, construct characters, props and backgrounds, and plan a storyboard. In addition they will use the iPad2 to edit their own video and sound effects on iMovie, and create an original music score on Garage Band. Animation classes seamlessly integrate visual art and theater with basic math, science, and language arts. Students will draw inspiration from their basic study of insect anatomy and behavior while animating on the iPad2's program called DoInk. Camp Invention - The CREATE Program
The Camp Invention program is a weeklong summer enrichment program that partners with schools across the country to reinforce the traditional school year with science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) activities through inquiry-based, hands-on activities. Taught by local educators, each Camp Invention program consists of four modules, which comprise 32.5 hours of programming. Typically delivered in five consecutive 6.5-hour days, all four modules align with national and state education standards and are designed to meet the needs of varying age groups through primary and intermediate activities. July 16th through 20th
AM: Plants and Animals
Do you like animals and plants? Do you want to be able to draw your family pets? Learn to use color pencils, oil pastels, and dry pastel over watercolor to create beautiful and colorful art. You will bring home drawings that would amaze your friends and yourself.
PM: Hands in Clay
Dig into kid friendly artist’s clay- squeeze, coil, slab, cut and sculpt as you create sculpture that expresses your thoughts and feelings. Students will use different types of clay including water-base clay, air dry and baker’s clay to model and sculpt. Some examples of projects we will create together are geometric vs. free-form structures, clay wizards, and animal constructions. We will also explore ways to create various clay surface textures. Beginner and Intermediate levels welcome. Note to parents: Some clay creations will need to be fire in our kiln. Later pick up required.
July 23rd through 27th
AM: Sunset, Clouds, and Water
Are you fascinated in many styles of art and have hard time picking one over another? This class is designed to satisfy your curiosity by exploring charcoal drawing, watercolor, and acrylic painting. Working from both imaginary and observation skills, we will explore lines, shapes and colors in an abstract composition and a realistic painting. If weather permits, we will draw and paint outdoors.
PM: Tie-Dye and Stamp Art
Try your creativity with tie-dye and stamp art. We will explore various methods of making one-of-a-kind patterns on fabric and T-shirt. Some examples are spiral design and stencil dyeing. We will print our stamp designs onto fabric to create a wearable art such as a pouch, or a cell phone/iPod carrier.
