Help Soundview Expand Educational Programs with the School’s First Bus! 

Popular Fund-A-Need gets strong support at the auction, but more help is needed to make this dream a reality...

The Soundview Community came together on March 7th at the Soundview Auction “Building the Future” and donated generously toward the purchase of the school’s very first school bus, raising about half of the needed amount. Our thanks to all that participated!

A bus is an important part of the school’s growing athletics and physical education program. “The local area is rich with top-notch sports facilities that complement what we have here at the school,” says Soundview Athletic Director, Tim Cole, “we have not been able to take advantage of this because we don’t have an efficient way to transport our students to those facilities. Our own bus will allow us to expand the types of activities and experiences that we can provide for our students.”

A school bus will also be ideal for transporting students on field trips at all grade levels and in our growing summer program. “In the past couple of weeks, a few teachers have taken small groups of students to a nearby creek to release salmon that we have been raising at the school,” remarked Inae Piercy, Head of School. “It was too far to walk, yet too close to arrange a caravan of parent vehicles. They ended up traveling on city buses, which takes extra time due to transfers. A bus of our own would have made this a quick and easy trip, saving a lot of planning and classroom time.”
