Dear Families,
Thank you for your interest in Soundview School! For over 10 years, Soundview School has given parents with an eye on the world around them, an education that prepares their children for the rapidly changing global society they will be called one day to lead. We are proud of our community that demonstrates on a daily basis what it means to be dedicated stewards of our community, nation and planet, serving each other and reaching out to create new relationships with the world around us.
Intellectually motivated students who are curious, caring, creative and balanced are great candidates for a Soundview education. Typical Soundview students achieve beyond grade level in traditional schools and have demonstrated leadership, creativity, responsibility and a desire to learn. Because of our small class sizes, innovative programs and excellent teachers, these students will develop high levels of creativity, self-expression and critical thinking in an environment that both sets high expectations and provides nurturing guidance that helps students rise to meet the demand.
We look for parents who realize that a changing world requires innovative perspectives and teaching. As a Middle Years Programme candidate school in the rigorous International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO), we aim to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and creative graduates to become the ethical leaders of tomorrow. The framework of the Middle Years Programme allows our teachers to connect ideas across disciplines so our students learn to think critically about relevant issues, to be creative in solving problems, and to express their ideas in a variety of ways so as to reach others and positively impact our world.
Our admissions process examines the many factors that distinguish your child as an individual and as student. The testing we require is used as a tool to help learn more about strengths and weaknesses. We invite applicants to visit the school for a full day and we offer families personal tours and the opportunity to meet with Inae Piercy, our founder and Head of School. This process helps families become comfortable and familiar with the benefits of a Soundview education.
Please explore our website to learn more about our philosophy and programs. If you would like to learn more about the International Baccalaureate Programmes for the Primary Years and Middle Years, please click here to visit the IBO site.
Please call me with any questions, to schedule a tour or request an application packet. We are excited to meet you and your child and to learn more about your family to help you find a great place for growth and success.
Sincerely,
Katie Auker
