In addition to our regular in-school program of Physical Education, Health & Nutrition, we offer two after school sports: Ultimate Frisbee and Cross Country.

Ultimate Frisbee

Ultimate is an up-and-coming sport which has secured devoted followings in many areas of the country already and which seems certain to grow. It has many qualities which mesh well with Soundview’s goals and ethos, making it a great match for our budding athletes.

Although it is a highly competitive sport, it places an enormous emphasis on cooperation. In fact, it is impossible to score by yourself in Ultimate: the only way to score is by passing the disk to a team member. It is a very physical game, demanding nearly as much running as soccer, but it is not a contact sport. Teams can be co-ed, and mixed ages. And, because games are refereed by the players themselves, Ultimate places an enormous premium on honor, trust, and honesty.

Cross Country

Cross Country, of course, provides a wonderful way to stay fit and enjoy the outdoors. There are plenty of opportunities for competition since many other Seattle area schools field Cross Country teams. Again, the resonance between Soundview’s goals and Cross Country’s team camaraderie and stress on individual’s competing with themselves to better their own personal times is powerful.
