Description: Enjoy the great outdoors while building the strength and endurance to become a great runner! Run through our campus woods, play exciting games that will give you a good cardio workout, and compete in Sunday league meets at Woodland Park with many other runners your age. Wear your best running shoes because you are going to get a workout!

HappyFeet

Description: HappyFeet offers soccer instruction with a focus on individual skills and team building. Students will hone their individual creativity and self expression, embrace new challenges, and learn to manage intelligent risk as they become skilled soccer players.

Description: Fundamental Acting provides introductory exploration classes with exercises and activities that teach terminology and theatre skills in every class. Students also learn valuable life skills such as teamwork, creativity, collaboration, imagination, public speaking, problem solving, and personal responsibility. VillageTheatre’s acting classes are process-oriented and focus on the theatre skills students need to grow as actors.

ShiningStars

Description: ShiningStars focuses on role playing and pretending to encourage clear, confident, expressive communication. Students will learn to work with others, focus their creative energy, and become masters of personal interaction and communication all while exploring costumes, set design, and acting! The last day of class will be a live production for family and friends.

Little Coders

Teacher: Coding with Kids

Description: Jump start your child’s STEAM education with Coding with Kids’ Little Coders class! Students will develop their computational thinking skills and build their own creative programs. Our curriculum combines a blend of fun activities - both "on-screen" and “off-screen” - to keep students engaged and excited about coding. This class will give students a strong foundation on coding basics, such as loops and conditionals, that can be built upon in our other classes. Kids will be introduced to these programming fundamentals in a variety of ways appropriate for this age group, from coding puzzles and board games to hands-on programming using online drag-and-drop tools, such as Scratch.

Explore with Paint

Grade: Kindergarten-2nd grade

Description: Discover the art of painting, from mixing colors to developing an accurate color wheel. Work with watercolors, acrylic and tempera paints. Students will be given a sketch book and work on weekly exercises to develop skills while enhancing their artistic abilities. Learn the art of painting in a fun and encouraging environment.

Beginning Strings

Grade: 1st - 8th grade

Number of students: 3 minimum, 12 maximum

Trimester/Dates: Fall 9/16-11/4 (no class 11/14 or 11/28)

Students need: Students need to purchase their own copy of Essential Elements 2000 in the edition for their instrument (violin or cello) and provide their own instrument. All other music materials are provided.

Description: The Beginning Strings class provides the opportunity to learn the basic skills for playing the violin or the cello. Our lessons will focus on the individual needs of each student for learning good sound production, note reading facility, and equipment care. Beginning Strings students have fun making music while learning from an encouraging and patient instructor. Once a strong foundation of basic skills is developed (as determined by the instructor), students may advance to the Soundview Community Youth Orchestra where a move to viola or bass is an option.

Youth Orchestra

Grade: 2nd - 8th grade  

Number of students: 3 minimum, 18 maximum

Trimester/Dates: All year 9/16-6/2

(no class on 10/14, 10/28, 11/11, 11/25, 12/23, 12/30, 2/24, 3/17, 3/31, and 4/7)

Description: The Soundview Community Youth Orchestra is the place to build skills and create musical art on violin, viola, cello, and double bass. Our rehearsals develop playing technique, teach ensemble music making, and challenge the students with practice in sight reading. Orchestra requires one year of experience with a violin or cello. Advanced Orchestra students will have the opportunity to learn more challenging material, take on solos, and perform as a small group. This will be a breakout group from Youth Orchestra.
